Connie Garcia is a Certified Nurse Midwife who also has a Master of Science degree in Nursing. Connie received her Master’s degree from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and her certificate of nurse-midwifery from the Frontier School of Nurse-Midwifery and Family Nursing in Hyden, Kentucky.
Connie’s expertise includes full-scope midwifery care and the establishment and accreditation of free-standing birth centers. She is currently the Vice President of the Commission for Accreditation of Birth Centers and a Site Visitor. Connie is also a member of the American College of Midwives, the American Association of Birth Centers, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, and the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nurses.
Connie strongly believes that most women have normal, healthy pregnancies and births and should be allowed an alternative birth site as they desire. She is supportive of gentle and empowering prenatal and birth care, allowing women to have as much control as possible in the setting of their choice. Connie herself is a mother of five and gave birth in a traditional hospital, a freestanding birth center and at home with a nurse-midwife. Her grown children have also chosen out-of-hospital birth with their families! Connie believes it is vital to get the word out about women’s real choices in their care for a lifetime, and that these choices leave a legacy for the next generation.
Julia F. R. Hall, JD - Executive Director & General Counsel
Julia is the mother of three; each birth was another step along the journey towards opening a birth center. After a typical hospital birth in Dallas with many interventions but little true support from the medical community, the loving education from her doula Brenda Shumway led Julia to a birth center birth for her second son, Robert. The differences between the two experiences were striking and life-changing. Julia’s personal experiences with hospital and birth center births have made her an advocate for access to midwifery care and given her an empathatic heart for serving Babymoon Inn’s clients and supporting them in the birth experience of their dreams.
Steven V. Hall, MBA, CPA, ABV, CFF - Financial Director
After seeing first-hand the incredible service provided by the midwives and birth center in Dallas, Steven realized that this was a cottage industry that needed to grow! Throughout his consulting career, Steven has advised many businesses in the healthcare industry and is excited to be able to combine his experience with a personal passion.
Dianne Hamre, CD, DONA, CLE Client Services Director
While living in the Seattle area, I met a very special woman by the name of Patti Ramos, who took me under her wing and let me glean from her thirty plus years as a doula and Childbirth Educator. She encouraged me to follow my heart and it was then that I began to see my dream coming true. Patti will always hold a special place in my heart! I am a certified birth doula through DONA (Doulas of North America) and have been trained as a Certified Lactation Educator through the Simkin Center for Allied Birth. Recently, I attended a Childbirth Educator training through Nurturing Hearts Birth Services and have been leading a childbirth class called The Birth Journey. This intensive one day workshop is designed for couples with emphasis on the significance of the partner’s role in labor and birth. I became interested in the childbirth profession when I was in high school and always had a desire to be a labor and delivery nurse. While I was pregnant with our first baby, I had the privilege of attending the birth of my nephew, the first of many births I would attend before formally pursuing my passion. My husband and I have four children of our own; each pregnancy and birth was unique in its own special way. My first pregnancy went 16 days past the estimated due date, and at that time I was induced with pitocin. Thankfully, I escaped all other interventions and went on to have our 9lb 3oz son after 22 hours of labor. I had a totally unmedicated birth 22 months later when our daughter was born at 41 weeks weighing 9lb 10oz. During my last pregnancy, I carried twins to 38 weeks and gave birth to identical boys. They each weighed over 7 pounds and were born vaginally two hours apart! Each time, I managed to escape the majority of interventions that I see all too often today with women facing similar situations such as postdates, large babies and twins. Maybe I was young and naïve…I think I just believed natural birth was normal! I consider each family I have had the privilege to support through the sacredness of birth to be a miracle from God and they are forever a part of my life. This would not be possible without the loving support from my wonderful husband of almost 30 years! His understanding of the hours spent away from home with a client or hours of researching on the computer means the world to me. Our children are now all grown and our oldest has a family of his own. Thanks to him and his lovely wife, I am blessed to be Grammie to five year old Sylas and three year old Ava. I’m sure you can tell by now, family is very important to me and I believe it should begin with a positive birth experience. This is what continues driving me today to help others have the birth they desire. I appreciate the opportunity I have in working together with Babymoon to help make this a reality for more families!

Amey Clark, RN, CBC,CCT, LCCE
Amey’s passion for pregnancy, birth and babies has guided her through 14 years as a labor and delivery nurse at hospitals in the Phoenix area. Amey is thrilled to now be at Babymoon Inn, working in an environment that truly supports women and believes in the power birth can have.
Amey has been married for 14 years to her husband Jim, a Valley firefighter and paramedic. She has three children, ages 13, 11 and 8, and has experienced a natural birth with a midwife, a hospital birth with an OB, and a Cesarean section for a persistent breech baby! These varied experiences have allowed Amey to relate to the many women she has cared for as a labor nurse. In 2012, Amey was also abel to spend four months working alongside two licensed midwives in the homebirth setting. It was this experience that showed Amey how normal birth can be and how much better the process works when a woman is allowed to follow her instincts. Additionally, Amey spent the past three years running the community education department at a local hospital, where she discovered a love for teaching childbirth and newborn care classes to expectant parents, as well as reaching out to new mothers through a weekly support group.
Amey is a registered nurse, a certified car seat technician, a certified breastfeeding counselor, and is currently working toward becoming a board-certified lactatoin consultant. Amey joins the Babymoon Inn team as both a birth assistant and as a facilitator of the Inn Mommies postpartum support gropu. She is proud to be a part of Babymoon Inn and have the opportunity to help change the face of birth in Phoenix.
