Acupuncture Services

General Acupuncture:

Acupuncture involves the insertion of sterile needles at specific points on the body to restore the flow of Qi (energy) within the body. Acupuncture promotes wellness and restores balance, function and is helpful in the treatment of many physical and emotional conditions. The initial visit for general acupuncture begins with an in-depth health evaluation, including tongue and pulse diagnosis. 60 minute acupuncture sessions can include cupping, gua sha, or electro acupuncture as deemed necessary by provider or requested by client.

Prenatal & Postnatal Acupuncture:

Labor Prep Acupuncture isn’t just about initiation of contractile activity. Although it can stimulate uterine activity, acupuncture should be looked at as a series of treatments starting by 36 weeks. My approach towards labor prep is to systematically assess and assist Mom’s progress towards active labor. Studies show that acupuncture not only decreases the time in active labor, but it also is effective at pain management due to its analgesic effect. Acupuncture is very effective at calming nerves and soothing anxiety, which is common and natural at the end of pregnancy. This creates the perfect internal environment to relax and allow birth to unfold with more ease. Sessions are 60 minutes each.

Esoteric Acupuncture:

Esoteric Acupuncture is higher frequency healing which integrates the Hindu chakra system, sacred geometry, and acupuncture. This type of acupuncture is used to assist the client in strengthening their connection to their higher self, expanding consciousness, and promoting wellness. Esoteric acupuncture balances the flow of energy within the physical, energetic and emotional bodies. You will experience an elevated state of spiritual awareness while feeling deeply relaxed. Esoteric Acupuncture is a full body, front and back treatment.

Cosmetic Acupuncture:

Extremely fine facial acupuncture needles are placed in specific points on the face to lift and tone facial muscles, promote blood flow, and stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin. Once needling is complete, you will receive a relaxing facial cupping and gua sha session. Facial cupping increases circulation, promotes lymph drainage and tones facial muscles. Cosmetic acupuncture is not a facelift – it is an enhancement and rejuvenation. This treatment will soften fine lines, reduce acne scars, and even skin tone. Rose quartz and jade facial gua sha tools are used to further stimulate acupuncture points and facial muscles. Gua sha is applied to shoulders and scalp for deeper release and relaxation. It takes 21 days to grow collagen, and because of this, cosmetic acupuncture treatments should be looked at as a series of treatments and generally requires up to 6-12 weeks of regular treatments. After an initial treatment phase, bi-weekly or monthly treatments are recommended. Cosmetic acupuncture also includes a full body acupuncture treatment to treat constitution.

Detox/Auricular acupuncture:

Detox/Auricular acupuncture uses the NADA ear acupuncture protocol for recovery and detoxification. NADA protocol is the standard auricular treatment used in detox treatment centers and behavioral health centers. It is commonly used for treating addiction and trauma with patients reporting a reduction of cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Detox/Auricular acupuncture relieves stress caused by traumatic events, supports healthy sleep and increases calmness. A 30 min session includes NADA protocol and up to 3 additional auricular points of supporting treatment.

Body cupping and gua sha:

This is a 30 minute session which includes body cupping and gua sha treatment. Common areas to treat are the back, legs, arms and shoulders. Cupping is the opposite of massage, rather than applying pressure to the muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. The negative pressure provided by cupping increases blood flow, loosens muscles, and sedates the nervous system. Cupping is commonly used to relieve back and neck pain, anxiety, fatigue and even cellulite.

Gua sha (commonly known as scraping therapy) is a modality of Chinese medicine that aims to move Qi (energy) around the body. It utilizes a stone tool that is rubbed against the skin, with pressure to create Sha (redness). Gua sha is effective in breaking down scar tissue, stimulating connective tissue, and improving movement in the joints. It is possible/likely that cupping and gua sha will leave redness and/or bruising that will resolve within a few days or up to a week.

Holistic Microneedling:

Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, Irin uses a high quality, medical grade microneedling device to infuse hylaraunic acid and peptide serums into the skin.  Microneedling, or CIT is effective at reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks, and erasing dark spots and hyperpigmentation. This is because microneedling stimulates the body’s ability to initiate fibroblast production and regrew collagen and elastin.  Microneedling is great for all skin types and requires minimal downtime.

Enhance Your Experience

Adjunct therapies can be included in your regular hourly sessions.

Electro acupuncture

Electro acupuncture is an effective method to treat chronic pain conditions, neuropathies, stroke recovery, labor contractions, and even fertility. Similar to a TENS machine, electrodes are placed on the fine acupuncture needles and provides a deeper stimulation to the treatment as we aim to heal and regrow nerve tissue. Although it does intensify the treatment, it should not be painful.

Food Therapy:

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, food has therapeutic and thermal effects on the body. Foods can assist in the healing of digestive issues as well as boost organ functions. Knowing the proper application and protocols are essential to your wellbeing and a comprehensive care plan can be designed just for you.

Herbal Medicine:

Herbal formulas are employed to enhance organ function, metabolize fluids properly, increase blood volume, and assist with emotional issues stemming from imbalances of yin and yang. They also assist in clearing heat/inflammation/toxins in the body, relax and ease emotional tension, and enhance digestive function and nutrient absorption.
